"The rooms could use a little upgrade. There should be more chairs in the shade for free. All the good chairs are reserved. You shouldn’t have to pay for a shaded seat. For the cost of the room, you should get snorkel equipment for more than one hour. Other than that, I loved the property. Staff was excellent and the dining was great too. "

"Beautiful property on the ocean was very nice, multiple swimming areas were very well maintained and beautiful. In-house restaurant Nui was so wonderful we ate there twice. Would return, very pleasant experience on the big island. Sunsets were incomparable, worth a visit alone!! "

"The hotel was under construction, which I was aware of when I booked, which gave us a fabulous discounted rate! The construction posed no issues at all; we heard their drills a few stops we stopped into our room during the day, but nothing to disturb us early morning or evening. The rooms were nice, slightly dated, but clean. The restaurant views are amazing!! We watched whales each morning at breakfast; dinner sunset was beautiful and the food was very good. "A very nice hotel at a reasonable price. The beds were great but it would have been nice to have a microwave. I enjoyed the free welcome drink and the staff was great. Parking is free and very convenient and the hotel is close to town. A great place to stay for a couple of nights while you tour Hilo and Volcano, which is less than an hour away."

"We stayed for one night. The hotel has a nice location close to the shore with beaches, a street of banyan trees, and a park. The pool and garden area looked nice, although we didn't have time to use them. The hotel is not new, so you should expect that, but was clean and comfortable. The staff was wonderful!"

"This is a beautiful resort in a beautiful location about 20 miles North of Kona. The views are beautiful, the pools are nice, there is a nice salt lake lagoon that is connected to the ocean. The biggest downside is the need to walk. The resort is designed to be unnecessarily large and you need to walk quite a bit to get from some place to another, to the extent that walking can take away from the fun. "Fairmont Gold at Kona is an an outstanding venue. People are trained, courteous and efficient. The price-value relationship is a winner. Comment, the beautiful tile floor in the shower was so slick neither my wife nor I dared use the shower. We are both healthy by the way, wanted to stay that way. A simple synthetic shower mat would be all that would have been needed. "

"We had a great day. The staff was very friendly and welcoming when we arrived just before midnight. They assisted us in finding parking even though no stalls were available. They even offered us water when we were thirsty after a long trip. We’ll definitely stay here again. Very close to the waterfront, tons of shops and a beautiful walk."
