I chose the Westgate because we needed pet friendly accommodations. Our small dogs came because we drove from Colorado to visit family that lives in Summerlin. It was great to have a full kitchen and a gated community feel.
This resort charges a $150 non-refundable pet fee upon check-in. This was NOT listed anywhere on Expedia (but I was sure to let Expedia know that they need to add that info to their website so hopefully they do); the front desk attendant said “it’s stated in our website”, which is fair but people don’t always look on the hotel website when booking through a third party site. The value went down significantly after paying that $150.
The unit is nice but it is so crowded with furniture. And there was a big garden tub in our bedroom that was just obnoxious; we ended up fashioning a way to put our luggage in there (no space for a luggage stand if they had offered one).
The grounds are immaculate but that required being woken up at 8:30am by leaf blowers. Not really necessary given that it is January.
