It is beautiful, it has a great location and friendly staff. What I didn't like was that it was a little noisy outside, there is a ship platform right beside the hotel that made a noise all day and it was harder to sleep.

I love this hotel. The staff - doorman are awesome and super friendly. We arrived and were given our room key. We headed up to have the key not work. I went down again and had the keys redone. Then went up again only to have the keys not work. I went down a third time and came up with the doorman who had our luggage. His key also didnt work. They have us another room but it was on the floor that allowed pets. Then there was dogs barking and I had to complain- And I am a dog lover. The hotel comped ua Each a drink. Given the inconvenience I think more could have been done to make up for the inconvenience especially given we were Celebrating a graduation and birthday. It was ok.

This is a beautiful and historic hotel that is located right in the heart of downtown Victoria. Stay here for the location, the excellent customer service, and the history. The only caveat is that, due to the age of the hotel, the rooms and the bathrooms, while beautiful appointed, are quite tiny. If that’s an issue for you, you may want to consider staying at one of the other hotels in downtown Victoria that are newer and visiting the Empress during the day or booking a reservation in the tea room.

Hotel is very nice!! Great location for anyone traveling to Victoria without a car. Close to both the clipper and blackball ferries. Also, close to the really cute downtown. Super dog friendly if you want to travel with your furry family. I would have given it 5 stars but there was an issue with housekeeping services while we were there and they didn’t do turndown or make up the room the following day, even though we were asked if we wanted those services at checking. I know those sound like petty issues but when you stay at a property such as this you expect certain services. However, the restaurant and bar were both good. I do recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Victoria.

Everything about our stay was fantastic. The bell staff was soooo friendly and efficient and the bartenders at the Q were so great! The charcoal popcorn is a must try! We will definitely be back one day!

Gold Floor exceptional with lovely food and beautiful lounge areas. Staff so accommodating and friendly. Bedding and room amenities great. No complaints at all.

The whole stay was just ok. Our room was very small. There was an old distinct smell as soon we enter our room. The blue throw pillow that was on the bed smells so bad so as the linens. No alarm clock in the room. For a pricey hotel, their hair blow dryer is really cheap. The exhaust fan in our bathroom was not working. Not much selections in their tv cable. The only thing I like was their signature lotion/shampoo.
