Visit the State Farm Arena in the heart of downtown Atlanta to mingle with basketball fans. Or watch an ice hockey game or figure ice skating competition, if that’s more your thing. And how about coming here for a concert? There are about 200 events to choose from each year, which means there is something for everyone.
The State Farm Arena is the main stadium of the National Basketball Association (NBA) in Atlanta, Georgia, and also has an ice hockey and ice skating rink. Formerly called the Philips Arena, the naming rights for the freshly renovated stadium were bought by State Farm in 2018 for 20 years. Updated features included an immersive video experience for fans.
If you are into basketball, come here to cheer on the male players of the Atlanta Hawks or the female players of the Atlanta Dream team during a live game. Afterwards, visit the Hawks shop for NBA paraphernalia.
Check the Atlanta events calendar to see which concerts are on during your visit. The stadium can seat up to 21,000 people during concerts and other shows. Sir Elton John played at the stadium’s inaugural event in 1999 and, since this is one of the busiest concert’s venues in the US, many world-famous musicians and singers have followed his lead.
The State Farm Arena is in the Centennial Park District of Downtown Atlanta and there are many restaurants and hotels in the vicinity of the stadium. The stadium itself also has several restaurants, fast food counters and bars.
If you are driving there, book your parking spot with ParkMobile in advance to prevent missing out. There is a rail station across the street from Gate 4 of the stadium for easy access to Atlanta’s MARTA public transportation system. Disembark at the Dome/GWCC/Philips Arena/CNN MARTA station, which is just one stop away from the central transfer hub of the Five Points station, then follow the signs for the State Farm Arena.
The CNN Center is closest to the Gate 1 entrance, making it easy to combine a visit to both of these star attractions in Atlanta.
