"There are amenities necessary and special (face pack, eye pack) and everything was placed in the right spot!! Green tea and roasted black soybean coffee were great. The hotel is at very convenient location. Only challenge was that it was a bit hard to control the room temperature. It was not necessary to use AC, but the room were getting warm during the night. "

"Room was a bit small but beds were super comfortable and the shower/bath was excellent. The in room coffee (Hario coffee mill and pour over setup) was the best I've had in a long time. Tried both breakfast offerings here and at the sister property around the corner, both good. Super convenient location yet on a quiet street."

"Our room at Aoi Hotel was very spacious, with a balcony the size of some budget hotel rooms and overlooking the Kamo River. The room gets daily cleaning and restocking, but the reception/concierge is not really present (they can be summoned with a phone call from the front desk). Overall, a unique, high-quality hotel in an excellent location."

"The hotel was clean, comfortable and quiet. It's in a good location near to shops, restaurants and bars as well as transport. Check in is 2 minutes away from where the rooms are but this is not a problem. Two small issues for us were: 1 We emailed the hotel about dropping bags before check in. The emails were not answered. When we called the number they gave us it was not answered. It was disappointing. 2 There was an unpleasant smell coming from the washing machine."

"Loved the comfort in this hotel, beds and pillows were amazing. They provided pajama set which was so comfortable that we ended up buying it. Breakfast (western) was very nice with plenty of non-meat options. Japanese breakfast was sold out on both mornings we had breakfast there. Neat and clean room/bathroom, nice modern hotel (cinema room was very spacious). Would love to stay there again."

"Great hotel in the heart of Gion. Walkable to just about everything, or a quick walk to a train to everything else. Hotel was clean, staff was kind, amenities available as needed. Only thing to note is that the laundry machines on the 6th floor have a hard time drying well, so we left with some damp luggage. Not a huge deal but worth a call out if you need to do laundry on your trip."

"I can’t recommend this hotel highly enough. From the welcome drinks on the rooftop bar with a foot bath after a long day walking around Kyoto, to the exceptional staff, this was a great choice. After we left the hotel and were on our way back to Tokyo, we realized we had left our valuables in the room’s safe. The hotel contacted us and were able to overnight our things to us in Tokyo, for which we are very grateful! Great location and centrally located."
