Galle hotel rooms a the Anantara

"Phenomenal. Stayed in a lot of top class hotels and this is easily one of the best ever. Amazing rooms staff very nice, pool super and grounds nice too. Hotel breakfast and dinner incredible too. Good variety and catered well for vegetarian (one of the most options I've seen for veggie food). Would come back just to stay in this hotel. Only marginal negative was WiFi was surprisingly patchy and quite slow. Would often disconnect."

"The Galle Fort Hotel is a truly lovely boutique property set within the walls of Galle Fort. We stayed in the Grand Apartment room which was gorgeous with fabulous furnishings. The Bar and lounge areas are both lovely and the pool, loved the tiling, was a must to cool off. Breakfast was included in our rate and it was great, wasn't keen on their coffee bean but other than that faultless. All of the Staff are lovely however Shalimar stood out he was always there when needed, extremely helpful and a great character. "

"We had such a pleasant stay at this property. It was so calm and serene. With a stunning view of the fort. There's a small safe area to swim in the ocean as the rest of the sea is quite dangerous. A nice warm pool that offers the same view and peaceful vibe. The dining option for us was a paid dinner that had authentic Sri Lankan food. It wasn't short of any flavour and they did not cut corners - this is coming from a Sri Lankan. The next time I come from Canada and need to visit Galle. I will stay here again without hesitation"

"What we liked: - cleanliness - the bathroom - perfect location in the fort What we didn't like: - there was no laundry service (it states there is) - we had a bad experience of service at the cake shop which is linked to the hotel. They messed up our order and it took a while to sort out the bill. We then had to pay the bill in two payments of which we were shortchanged because they didn't have the correct money. Finally we were charged a 10% dine in fee despite already staying that the hotel. - Layout of the room, single bed in the middle of the whole living space. - They didn't replace our toilet roll and bedding was not refreshed - Woken up at very early every morning due to loud noise, furniture moving and chairs scraping on the floor"
