The impressive ZOZO Marine Stadium is one of Tokyo’s premier sporting and events venues. Located in Chiba Prefecture, on the shores of Tokyo Bay, the stadium is a great place to see one of Japan’s legendary baseball games or enjoy a spectacular live music show. Ask at the box office for a line-up of events and book a ticket for a real Tokyo experience.
ZOZO Marine Stadium is home to the Chiba Lotte Marines baseball team, and their fans are passionate supporters. Japanese love baseball, and no trip to the country would be complete without experiencing the excitement of a game. Get tickets to cheer on the Marines and enjoy the competition, the synchronized cheering squads, the fast food and the booming noise from the crowds.
The stadium isn’t only used for baseball games, however. It often hosts big concerts, where up to 30,000 fans pour in to watch everyone from Madonna to Lady Gaga. The hugely popular Summer Sonic Festival is also held annually in the stadium. During the several days of the festival, national and international musicians boom out tunes in a fun atmosphere. Book tickets in advance as this is one of the most popular events in the city.
In addition to the games and concerts, ZOZO Marine Stadium puts on an incredible fireworks display every summer. Watch the sky over the Bay of Tokyo light up with millions of colors as huge crowds form both inside the stadium, and outside on the beach. Interestingly, the stadium also made a Hollywood appearance in the movie Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II, in which Godzilla destroyed it. Fortunately it was just fiction, and the stadium remains an important sporting and cultural hub of Tokyo.
Get to ZOZO Marine Stadium by train. It is located half a mile (1 kilometer), or 20 minutes’ walk, from Kaihin-Makuhari Station which is on the Keiyō Line JE14. It is also not far from JR Maihama Station which serves the Tokyo Disney Resort and Tokyo DisneySea®.
