"I am from the US, but I found this place after discovering through Ancestry research that the Lumley family is in my family tree, and I found this castle in searching them and I wanted to see it, so we came. Lumley Castle is a unique and amazing gem. There is so much history. The reception desk sells a book about the history, which is definitely worth purchasing. We attended Burns Nights in Baron's Hall, and the event was wonderful, with great food and fun dancing afterwards. The event spaces are just beautifully maintained. Our Castle Classic room was small but beautiful. The tub was perfect and we took luxurious soaks. The little vanity area was a very nice touch. We thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast each day and we stayed for dinner one night as well. Afternoon tea on Saturday was fairly priced and the scones and cakes were delicious. The library bar has such a perfect vibe. I loved reading by the fire with a drink. We could not have had a better stay. Also, even though it is in the middle of nowhere, you can actually still get Uber Eats from the cities nearby. It felt a little odd to be texting my uber driver, I will meet you by the entrance to the castle, but alas, it worked out just fine. "

"Stayed here for one night on business. Great rate for the night. Check in great. Room fantastic with a bit of wow factor upon entering. Very clean, comfy bed. Swimming pool fantastic. Fusion restaraunt food lovely but service not great. I was approached almost as soon as i sat down for food ordering but i hadnt seen the menu yet so i asked for 2 minutes. 15 minutes later a server came and apologised for the wait. Which at least she acknowledged i was waiting. Food came, lovely and tasty, but noone checked on me to see if everything was okay with my meal. Then when i finished my meal i waited for what felt like forever for someone to clear my plates. When someone finally came over i just asked for the bill and didnt even wait for my plates to be cleared. Just a bit of advice, when there is a solo female traveller eating on her own, she may not feel comfortable waiting around for so long. This doesnt bother me but i do know colleagues and friends who sometimes may feel vulnerable because travelling on business and just wants to eat and leave. This was not possible for me and i was left for around 45 minutes longer than needed. I did try to catch the servers eyes but they genuinely did not look in my direction at all. So felt a little overlooked. Bit of a shame."
