Eureka Skydeck 88

Rise above the city when you visit the highest viewing platform in the Southern Hemisphere and look out across the sprawling Melbourne skyline.

The Eureka Skydeck 88 is an observation deck that occupies the entire 88th story of Melbourne’s Eureka Tower. Soaring to a height of 935 feet (285 meters), the Skydeck is the Southern Hemisphere’s highest public vantage point within a building. Take in the unparalleled panorama of Melbourne’s expansive city limits all the way to the Dandenong Ranges and Port Philip Bay. Check out the glass-bottomed observation cube that juts from the face of the building or enjoy a drink amid the clouds at the Skydeck’s kiosk.

Take one of the two dedicated elevators that whisk visitors up 88 floors in less than 40 seconds. From this unbeatable vantage point, you’ll see the broad sweep of the skyline as it stretches out from downtown Melbourne to tree-lined neighborhoods and distant suburbs. Using the viewfinders, spot some of Melbourne’s most distinctive landmarks, including the Melbourne Cricket Ground, the Melbourne Star, Albert Park Lake and the Botanical Gardens. Peer down at the tiny people strolling around the city or try to pick out your hotel. Brochures and maps make it easy to pinpoint Melbourne’s sights.

Melbourne’s infamously changeable weather makes the open skies a showcase of meteorological magic. Watch as the clouds roll in or part to make way for the sunshine. The tower’s gold-plated windows put a sunset tint on the changing skies.

For an unforgettable experience, take a ride on the Edge. This glass cube extends out from the building on a sliding platform, presenting a thrilling panorama of the streets below your feet. If the weather is calm, you can also visit the Terrace, which is the Skydeck’s outdoor area. Grab a snack or drink from the kiosk. There are also wines and beers available for purchase. Visit in the evening for a romantic outlook over the glimmering city lights.

The Eureka Skydeck 88 is located within the Eureka Tower, which is in the heart of Southbank. Access the Skydeck by purchasing tickets at the on-site ticket booth. Discounts are available for children, students and seniors. The building is an easy walk from Federation Square and Flinders Street Station.
