Lower Alabama hotel rooms a the Independent

"Great historic property, very friendly and helpful staff and only minutes from restaurants on Dauphin Street. Only suggestion would be to give more details on parking in advance since parking is located in an adjacent parking deck with one way streets around the hotel. Other than that, highly recommend the hotel. "

"Went for quick weekend at beach with older kids and their friends. Website says they have limited breakfast. Very true. Walk across street to restaurant. Shades wouldn't work on window. I finally put a blanket over them. Called front desk and reported the issue and showed her the problem. She give me the location of closest Walmart so I could go get more bedding if thought I needed it. I go to gulf shores atleast once a month during the yr. This was spur of the moment trip. I will never stay...

"The night clerk was very nice. But when I went to check out and get my deposit back. The manager spoke to him and he said excuse me I will be back. They both left and after about 10 minutes he came back and gave me my deposit. I did have my Chihuahua with me and she was crated and I also paid the $25 pet deposit. So the only thing I can conclude is that he was told to go check the room to make sure my dog didn’t mess it up in any way. "
