"The hotel was clean and well furnished. We had a balcony room which had fabulous view of the river, a great place for watching nature around you. It was very peaceful. The pool area is good with separate pool for toddlers. This also overlooks the river. The staff were excellent. All polite and helpful which you find a lot in Sri Lanka. "Lovely historic hotel, yet sadly long overdue for a major renovation. Upgraded to a suite (thank-you), yet broken air conditioner that staff tried to fix with a broomstick/leaking ceilings in various rooms (dangerous on floorboards)/light bulbs broken & not replaced/dangerous electrical PowerPoints/shower mechanism broken & fell Off & hot water tap itself overheats & liable to burn.
