"Umami is a gorgeous garden hotel! We loved our suites. The decor is just stunning. The staff is courteous and kind. Breakfast tasted amazing! We loved the rice and beans. The parking is minimal. However using bikes, a tuk tuk, or walking is the best way to get around this jungle beach town. Bring earplugs because the birds and other lodgings in the area may wake you up. As a Jamaican, I loved our culture mixed in. We loved Old Habour aka Puerto Viejo! We will definitely go back and stay at Umami...

"Can’t say enough about this beautiful property. I’ve never been so relaxed. Granted we did stay in the upper level suite, but the entire place was majestic. They also have an excellent chef and bartender. Only steps to some beautiful beaches, dining and nightlife. You won’t regret it. "

"Beach front. This hotel is a paradise! Rooms Kitchen and living room. Staff was súper nice! They have 2 stations with cold filtered water. You can walk 8Km through the beach to the right and 3km to the left. 2 restaurants in the complex."

"If you want amazing hospitality and relaxing vibes this the place. The staff made it all perfect. We stayed for 4 nights and left completely relaxed. Don’t forget to visit the sister property they have a very nice pool. The only observation is the dining menu is always the same and very seafood forward. However they are great restaurants nearby. "

"We loved having the beach and good dining very close. The grounds are beautiful and we saw howler monkeys, common black hawks and sloth right on the property. Playa Cocles is across the street with some major waves! Our apartment had a kitchen which was very convenient. It is close to the street and adjacent property, so not quiet. The only inprovements we would like are a replaced shower head and mitigation of the sewage smell (brief) near the stairs."

"The only thing I didn't like was the restaurant. We ordered two lobster dinners and were served shrimp. When we stole the waitress that we ordered lobster and got shrimp, she looked at our plates and said, "no, that is lobster." I said no it is not and so did my grandson. Then she came back and said they could correct only one plate. I said, "how is that reasonable? We ordered two lobster plates and got shrimp. Why wouldn't you correct both?" "This place is a gem! Safe , clean and so well kept. You see the staff everywhere taking care of the facilities. The room was so clean, bed was perfect, kitchenette was very useful but it didn’t have utensils of any kind, little microwave and fridge. Oh and the room is quite spacious! Hotel has one of the few ( that I saw) guarded entrances. The staff was sweet and helpful. Great place to stay! We would definitely be back"
