"We found The Big Island Rereat to be just as good as the pictures! It was easy to find right off Ali'i drive. Check in and out were both very easy. We stayed in the Ocean View room which was just as advertised. There is no AC which is in the room description so there was no surprise. "We loved our stay at the Kona Palace. The house is well maintained and beautifully furnished. Rebecca and her husband her very warm and welcoming. "Great little hotel right on the water. Manager Jim was fantastic, friendly, and attentive. Fairly close to good restaurants. Parking is very small and tight, if you have a mid size or larger vehicle, good luck parking here. You will have to park across the strret. Pool was clean. Water pressure is low. "This property was really nice and close so that you could walk to restaurants and stores. Very clean and quiet. Only two suggestions....1. Update pillows and possibly mattress. 2. New procedure to open gates and doors is a 6 digit code. This is to help with security. But kids has access to the grounds and also can reach over the door and open it without the code. "Great hotel in the heart of Kona! Walkable to Kona Brewery, shopping, and more. Parking was paid but super convenient at the hotel. Rooms were large, clean, and had great amenities. "While the condo was in an ideal location in Kona, the amenities at the property were less than what I expected. The shower and bathroom sink were filthy. There were several hairs in the shower the day we arrived and what looked like toothpaste in the bathroom sink. The bathroom mirror was also dirty, with water spots all over it. The condo needs a good overall cleaning, as there was dust and dirt all over the walls, fans, decorations, etc. It is also a little outdated. The TV should be updated...

"The resort is beautiful on the ocean. The staff are fantastic and friendly. Originally we booked a “resort view” which was actually a parking lot view. Very disappointing. We talked to the staff and they confirmed that resort view is a view of the parking lot. We upgraded to an ocean view and couldn’t be happier. I only wish it was clear when booking what we were getting when we reserved a “resort view”. "

"Absolutely beautiful and way past what we expected as far as the room and amenities. Highly reccomend The only downside to this property was the disrespectful other residents who dont realize a person younger than 55 can rent the same rental as them. Almost every time i went outside the apartment someone side eyed me and my wife and or made sly comments about the property being private. I didnt know i had to have my papers to walk around for the hall monitor residents. "
