"I took my brother to Japan, and I wanted him to experience a traditional "ryokan", and even though the IROHA Hotel has "hotel" in the name, it is very much a ryokan with tatami floors in the rooms, shoji and fusuma doors, and you sleep on futons. "Quiet cultural experience. We were the only foreigners we could see. Beautiful property, view and area. Not a lot of places to visit but enough for 1-2 days. FYI This property is not at the Nikko city but the Nikko area. Large buffet and free drinks. Beds on the floor and daughter was really on the floor but all part of experience. If you want a quiet experience away from the city then this is great- even better with small children as has a pool park next door. "

"Feels very upmarket from the entrance all the way to the room. The Japanese room I stayed in felt extremely large; like a 5-star hotel in Tokyo. The washbasin area looks modern and is well equipped with amenities, including a face steamer. Separate toilet is large. Bathtub is deep for a good soak with a nice view of the outside.
