Once inhabited by the deer it took its name from, this coastal town is today one of Miami’s premier family vacation destinations. When the first settlers started farming in the Deerfield Beach area, they began by planting and harvesting fruits and vegetables suited to the climate. With warm conditions year-round, they reaped large crops of pineapples, along with tomatoes and other common vegetables.

Deerfield Beach is located just 40 miles (64 kilometers) north of Miami and can be reached by car, bus or taxi from the metropolitan region. Once you arrive, walk between most of the coastal attractions or make use of the Deerfield Beach public bus system.
