Great facilities...the pools etc were fantastic after a long day at football. It was quiet and heaps of parking available. The staff were friendly and helpful. An enjoyable stay and we have already booked to go back again next year.

Pool was excellent. In room cooking options eg microwave or toaster would have been nice. Room interior was dated but spacious and comfortable. We did find rubbish in a drawer from previous guest but not a concern. Restaurant was pricey so didn't try it. Would definitely stay again, great location and very relaxing.

I liked our stay, however traveling with my 2 teenager sons, they got bored quite quickly. The pool was so good, we didnt manage using the gym or spa, but it was great knowing there was access. Our room was comfortable but having a jug for coffess with no water had us using the bathroom tap water 🙃 internet was alright but having it connected to the tv would of been good as well. During early hours i was woken by the room next to us making noices, so trying to make it not awkward, i ended up staying awake watching tv & eating 😅 i would like suggesting a gaming room though with like a pool table or ping pong table, it did say there was puzzles & board games but we were too shy to ask any questions lol plenty of towels for showers, so that was also nice to have after a swim

Beautiful place little bit worn in the bedrooms like carpet and bathrooms, beautiful outdoors and reception, fantastic service and dinner was lovely followed by impeccable service! Also Air conditioning was fantastic best I’ve ever had in a hotel. Bed comfortable too. Rooms aren’t noise cancelling, could hear everyone walking down the hall kids running up as down I felt like my neighbours were in my room at times talking.

The reception staff were very friendly. The sri lankan girl was so nice. The room was not cleaned properly. Room was very cold at night. Carpets was so dirty they should do deep carpet clean. No proper dishes were provided not even washed properly.

Rooms and building are tired and need a renovation. Was looking forward to sitting on the sofas by the fire in the guest lounge, but it doesnt exist. The photos were staged. Also "the restaurant" is just part of the bar. And the fireplace is in a side area. Its all the same room staged in the photos to look like 3 different areas. Restaurant very expensive. Didnt eat there. Disappointing. The outdoor heated pool was great though really enjoyed it. Tennis court was fun too. Extractor fan in our bathroom didn't work so steamed up a lot.

Repeat stay, family friendly resort
Inise (i hope I got her name right) has given a great customer service that made a big difference to our stay. Thank you Inise. This is our repeat stay with Wairakei Resort, a good place to stay for a time away with family and friends, lots of things to do in the resort, (2 pools, basketball court, tennis court, etc). The property is undergoing some carpet replacement, a much needed one. We will be back, hopefully the refurbishment continues.
