"Not worth it. Way over priced! We stayed one night. Staff are very nice. But the place is of a by gone era. It’s old but not in a charming way. Showers in the onsen are cold and you have to wait for many minutes in order for hot water to come out. The rooms and elevators are old. the outdoor hotspring is on the top floor with no facilities (you have to go downstairs first and shower) and no real view to speak of. "夫婦で毎年別所温泉に来ていますが、今年は上山田温泉にしてみました。お部屋もお部屋にある露天風呂も良かったです。女性の露天風呂の薔薇も感激しました。暖かいおもてなしが良かったですが、残念だったのが、夜中まで騒いでいる別客の声が聞こえたりして、あまりのんびりと出来ず、貸風呂の廊下も雨の為とはいえ滑りやすく危険でした。温泉は最高だっただけに少し残念さが心残りです。"

"Great spot away from the busy Tokyo area. The rooms and the hotel is special in its own way and has a lot of character. Felt like being in my grandparents home. "We had a wonderful Christmas Vacation!!! Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed. They were extremely accommodating and even allowed us to check in early after unexpected circumstances. "Nice location next to the arcade. You can definitely walk to zenkoji from here. Nice walk up the main road to the temple. Best thing is you also get the benifit of the shop in the arcade walk. Restaurant inside was nice. Hotel at first glance looks good. It inside the rooms look dated and carpets need to be replaced! The showers and amenities are very nice. It’s not old school but if you want modern this is a good alternative. I would stay here again. "

Great location very close to Zenkoji Temple - this place is within the temple area and was even the Zenkoji Main Hall in the past. We had the dinner one night, which was an impressive feast!
