Last minute stay for New Year at such a bargain price. The hotel is being renovated and the room we stayed in had not been renovated yet, it was dated and needed some TLC . Room was clean, receptionist and the house keeping manager both excellent and for the price we paid we were more than happy with our lovely stay. Good luck with the renovation, with such a hard working amazing team you totally deserve some success.

Very tired property, black mould in shower, water had no pressure for a shower and couldn't get hot. No hand soap in rooms, windows dirty. They also have works going on and scaffolding was being erected before 9am on a sunday, very noisy

Fantastic view with the best room in architecturally significant hotel. All this outweighed the relatively dismal state of the public areas and the sub-Britannia breakfast. Once things have improved under the new ownership this will be a goldmine for staff and owners.

Faint glimpses of grander times
It is a lovely period hotel that is in much need of repair and investment. It is very dated and looks derelict in places although it does seem there are some works undergoing on one wing. Staff however are very warm and friendly and the location is out of this world, reminder of times when this was a place to be and a real high end hang out for locals and tourists alike.
