The Sri Mariamman Temple is Singapore's oldest Hindu temple. It is an agamic temple, built in the Dravidian style. The oldest parts of the existing brick structure date to 1843, and additions and alterations were subsequently made at various points in the history of the temple. It is believed that most of this work, especially the elaborate plaster sculptures and ornamentation, were produced by skilled craftsmen from the Nagapattinam and Cuddalore districts of Tamil Nadu in South India. All the staff were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Andy on the check in desk was very helpful and pleasant, but Tobey the young concierge was excellent and what ever we asked him he was able to help and always with a smile.
