Senator Beth Johnson Park is a lovely public green space in Orlando in central Florida. Visit the park with walking paths, big trees and colorful flowerbeds. Enjoy a peaceful lunch on the grass and then stroll around the area. Walk to popular Lake Ivanhoe just across the street, where you can go kayaking, use the playground or play volleyball.

This charming Orlando park occupies a 1.2-acre (0.5-hectare) space. The small city park offers a nice green spot for local residents and tourists. It’s named in honor of the American politician Elizabeth McCullough Johnson, the first female state senator in the history of Florida. This beautiful park is dedicated to her because she helped women take more important roles in politics and other public affairs. She was an active member of the civic organization League of Women Voters (LWV).

Lake Ivanhoe is a big lake located near Senator Beth Johnson Park. At the lake you’ll have many choices of water activities to do and beautiful natural scenery to enjoy. Use the beach volleyball court and fitness equipment along the eastern lakeshore. Go for a leisurely walk and admire the local vegetation, including large oaks and cypress trees. Try to spot the interesting birds that live near the lake, including the water bird anhinga, also known as a snakebird.

When it’s time for lunch, enjoy a picnic in the park or wander around the area to choose from several good restaurants. The neighborhood is also well known for its many antique shops.

The Orlando Chamber of Commerce has offices in Senator Beth Johnson Park. Find it about 1.9 miles (3 kilometers) away from the center of Downtown Orlando. If you are driving you’ll usually find many parking spaces available. Nearby Lynx Central Station serves the Lynx buses and the commuter rail system SunRail.
