Science Museum Oklahoma combines a wide range of scientific themes into one museum complex. Visitors of all ages can experience scientific discovery with interactive exhibits spread across more than 8 acres (3 hectares) of exhibition space. Learn about the amazing feats of science, aviation and space exploration and get your brain ticking with hands-on activities.
Find out what your body and five senses are capable of on the Science Floor. Hundreds of activities demonstrate the laws of physics and the marvels of the human mind and body. Check out the Kid Inventor exhibit to bring your children’s ideas to life. Let them run wild in the CurioCity gallery, which contains a range of different activities that encourage learning through play. Budding inventors can sign up for a workshop in the Tinkering Garage and work on innovative new creations.
View the skies in the Kirkpatrick Planetarium. This state-of-the-art facility showcases the Milky Way and distant galaxies through regularly updated shows and screenings. Learn about an astronaut’s daily activities in a NASA space program at the Destination Space gallery. The Aviation gallery brings visitors almost all the way back to Earth. Check out vintage aircraft and Leonardo da Vinci’s early aviation sketches.
Continue exploring to find exhibits about the weather, optical illusions, railways and the ocean. Let smaller kids enjoy the two-story tree house and the SMO fire station. Specialty touring exhibitions and seasonal programs feature at the museum at different times of the year.
Make your way outside to explore the museum’s gardens. You’ll find different botanical displays showing vegetables, herbs, native plants and aquatic plants. Enjoy a picnic on the lawns or stop by the museum café for a snack.
Science Museum Oklahoma is located in the city’s Adventure District, which is a 15-minute drive north of downtown. It is easy to reach by bus or car. Park on site for free. The museum is open daily, except Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Discounted admission is available to visitors over 65 or under 12.
