The hotel was very beautiful. Had a nice walking trail. There are horses on the property. Lots of activities to do. Tennis, horseback riding, yoga, golf and much more. The rooms were overall clean but not immaculate. There was one live spider and one dead one in our room. We also had dust and spider webs.

Our family had an unforgettable stay at the Fairmont Grand Del Mar. From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the stunning surroundings, and our daily walks exploring the beautiful scenery became a cherished part of our trip. Lunches at the Amaya restaurant were a delightful experience, filled with fresh flavors and a serene atmosphere. The in-room dining for breakfast was impeccable; the attention to detail and quality made it a perfect start to our days. Dining at Addison, a 3 Michelin-star restaurant, was truly a highlight of our stay. Chef William Bradley’s artistry was evident in every dish, creating an experience that was beyond just a meal – it was an unforgettable culinary journey. Our time at the pool was equally fantastic. The poolside service was top-notch, and it made our afternoons so enjoyable. The staff across the resort were super friendly and attentive, enhancing every aspect of our stay. We recently stayed 7 nights at the Grand Del Mar and had a wonderfu trip. We had an issue the first night but staff were so helpful in resolving - special thanks to Christian. Irene at the Concierge desk was amazing in bookings and recommendations. Property is stunning and facilities great - try the archery. They had a fantastic guitarist (David) who played and sung by the pool at the weekend which was very relaxing.

POSITIVES: 1) I commend Neil at the front desk for facilitating early check in. 2) The concierge was very helpful in referring us to off site hair and nail salons as the property no longer has these services since Covid. 3) rooms are very large with nice shower NEGATIVES: 1) ANTS! I told the front desk twice and they did NOT offer to move us to a different room. They did not offer to compensate us in any way. They said they would get housekeeping to address this. The next day the ants were back. What other bugs are there that we don't know about! I got the impression that there is a shortage of cleaning sta..2) Resort fee is a great way for the property to make extra money. I have stayed at much nicer properties without a resort fee. 3) Meals in their restaurant are expensive even for a hotel. Furthermore, waitstaff could do a better job. For example, waitstaff asked how breakfast was. My husband said "good". Waitstaff turned and walked away before I could answer that mine was not. In summary, cleanliness issues were a major red flag and some of the staff's indifference was problematic.
