Ripley’s Believe It or Not! is a museum packed with oddities and rare items. Its displays cover all manner of curiosities, from a portrait of Princess Diana made out of thousands of pennies to a two-headed calf and the world’s tallest human. Be amazed by the line-up of world records and natural aberrations in this kooky museum.
Admire the pink façade and pointy gate, above which a car appears to have smashed halfway through the wall. Pass through the eight themed galleries that wrap around the two-story complex.
Study the world’s smallest production car and admire the fertility statue that allegedly has had more than 1,000 confirmed pregnancies from people touching it. Your kids can see how they measure up against a model of the world’s tallest man.
Get a closer look at a shrunken head and learn about the bizarre and gruesome process behind it. Find out about the German Wolpertinger, a flying mythological creature that can supposedly be found in the woods and mountains. The museum also has a cinema and nine TV screens with audiovisual displays on bizarre discoveries from around the world.
Note that the museum is one of many branches in the company that was founded by Robert Ripley, who was known as the “Modern-Day Marco Polo” for his traveling exploits. The Believe It or Not concept began in the early 1900s as a newspaper, radio show and TV Show.
Purchase a ticket and get discounts for seniors and children. Children under the age of 4 enter for free in this museum, which opens daily from morning until late afternoon. It closes in winter.
Ripley’s Believe It or Not! is in the South Beach district in southwestern Blackpool. Ride the tram to Blackpool Pleasure Beach or take a bus to one of the stops straddling the attraction. It is just a 10-minute walk north from Blackpool Pleasure Beach railway station. Make sure to see such nearby landmarks as the Pleasure Beach amusement park, the South Pier and Adventure Golf.
