Scuba dive or snorkel in the waters off the coast of this lovely pebble beach and get a glimpse of the region’s abundant underwater life.

Reis Magos Beach is a pretty beach known for its clear waters, which are perfect for swimming, snorkeling or scuba diving. Despite the beach’s small size and popularity, it remains remarkably clean and quiet. Attracting a diverse crowd of locals and tourists, this beach is an ideal place to spend a relaxing afternoon enjoying the sunshine while people-watching.

Try waterskiing or windsurfing to see beautiful views and experience a different perspective of Caniço de Baixo. Jog along the flat stone pathway found nearby or paddle in the calm waters, which are watched over by on-site lifeguards.

Spread a towel out on the beach’s dark volcanic rocks and rent a hut to provide extra shade from the sun. This beach has Blue Flag certification and is an ideal spot to read a book or eat a picnic while enjoying the scenery.

Most visitors come to Reis Magos Beach to see the diverse marine life found swimming below the waters’ surface. Experienced divers and snorkelers can rent equipment from several diving schools located in the area. Novices can sign up for a full excursion. When you are in the water, look for amber mackerels, slipper lobsters, puffer fish and other typical Mediterranean species.

Reis Magos Beach is also an excellent starting point for diving trips to Garajau National Marine Park. A local fishing ban allows numerous underwater species to flourish at this nature reserve, making it one of Madeira’s top diving sites. See if you can spot manta rays, seahorses and grouper as you explore this protected area.

Take a break at one of the restaurants found near the beach. Enjoy a meal of fresh fish while sipping poncha, a traditional Madeiran drink made with a special type of alcohol distilled from sugar cane and combined with lemon juice, honey and sugar.

Reis Magos Beach is located near the village of Caniço in southeastern Madeira. Parking is available in a lot located just above the beach.
