I love Danfords; however, this was my first stay. Check in and check out was very easy. There was no one eating on site so not sure what eating options were available, but there were options nearby. There was a wedding and party each night which may have ended on time, but guests were loud. Overall, it was a good stay since it is a great location.

my family and I were excited to experience this historic hotel. When we checked in, we found out that we were going to be in an adjacent building across the street from the main building. This building was more of a conference area that you swipe yourself in and our room faced the parking lot. The room was large but very basic for the price. Unfortunately the room smelled of smoke throughout our stay. This ebbed and flowed so not sure if it came from vents or outside.

I booked this hotel over a month ago. I was given the room right above a wedding reception, directly above the wedding singer. The floor was vibrating and so loud. So much for a night in a cute hotel. This is ridiculous. I came all the way from Montana to get the loudest hotel room. When I asked to move I was told I could for a $180 upgrade fee. The staff didn’t seem to care at all. I was told it was the only room available when I checked in. I am so disappointed in this hotel experience.

I’ve stayed at Danfords a few times in the past, as it is pretty much a “must stay” place in the village of Port Jefferson and the location is unbeatable. Our room (E2) was quite noisy, both from the street and from people walking along the balcony outside our room talking loudly, but I don’t think there’s much you can do about that, other than request to stay in a different part of the hotel. The room itself was nice enough, but the side of the room where the TV/fridge and coffee maker are had no lighting and the lighting in the room overall was very poor. The bathroom was small but nice, but the sink top area is way too small and there is no room anywhere else to put your toiletries. Shower flow was very hard, using way too much water per minute-definitely not ecofriendly. The beds were hard. Although there was a coffee station in the hotel lobby, it was disappointing that this was one of the few hotels with no breakfast. Fortunately there are some places close by where you can get breakfast, but for the price of this hotel, it should be included. There was an extra “resort fee” of $33.10 payable at hotel (we didn’t have this at other hotels), which includes things that are already free at most other hotels (internet, coffee maker in room, bottled water in room, 800 and local calls (not really needed anyway when everyone uses cellphones!), use of business center (not needed by non-business travelers), parking and TV (although the free TV channels were very few).

Port Jefferson is a cute, harbor town. I loved walking to the beach and little shops. Danfords has beautiful rooms and great staff.

Hotel is in port side location. It’s a working port, not a seaside resort, but has a small pebbly beach area. It’s a working small town so doesn’t provide a wide range of tourist eateries. Hotel has nice rooms but at a city hotel price. Would have welcomed the onsite restaurant being a bit more upmarket to make our stay a bit more special for the price paid. Also breakfast on weekdays.

Great location on the water and the area was very walkable with lots of shops and dining choices. The staff made great suggestions on dining options and area attractions. Thanks to the person who checked us in for the excellent suggestion of a nearby small town! The hotel bed was comfortable. The room was clean but very noisy. The toilet made loud noises every half hour and the air conditioner was extremely loud

I wanted to have a great visit. But didn’t. It’s a great location on Port Jefferson’s waterfront, and the place looks great, and the rooms look nice, and even the bed was comfortable. Why a terrible review? Because (and ESPECIALLY because of the exorbitant price for the room), the one thing that you really want from a hotel is the ability to sleep. This room’s walls are paper thin, and if the hoards of partygoers rampaging up and down the stairs next to our room and stomping across the porch overhead (which sounded like a like a hollow drum) weren’t enough, the additional fact that you could hear their conversations pretty clearly pretty much sealed the deal on a sleepless night. Oh yeah, and the rolling barn door on our bathroom came off its track and nearly crushed me in the middle of the night. Sorry Danford’s, we won’t be back.
