"Lovely hotel, clean and modern with lovely staff. It’s small and not loads of facilities available, but when you’re in Kyoto you’re not looking to spend ages in the room/hotel anyway. I’ve stayed in Tokyo & Osaka and this was the most spacious room by far, with the biggest bathroom, and it wasn’t even that big. We also loved the table next to reception to grab whatever you need, such as a toothbrush, hairbrush, different herbal teas and pyjama sets for kids and adults. Water and ice also available downstairs, and there’s a microwave for whatever you may need it for. Great location too, you step outside and you’re already on the Main Street with lots of shopping, restaurants and convenience stores around. Would stay here again!"

"Upon departing from Tokyo, my younger brother and I chose this lovely location for our Kyoto stay. Even doing some research before our trip, I didn't realise we were SO close to Nishiki Market! This was a major plus in our book - the main drag was only around 6-7 mins from the hotel, which also meant our Tea Ceremony was close as well. The hotel is very classy, with gorgeous decor and several restaurants as well as spa and hot spring facilities. I wasn't able to take advantage of the hot spring considering my tattoos (it was expected, lol), but little brother said it was wonderful! We did not eat anything on-premises during this stay, so I'm unable to vouch for food offerings or quality but I can only imagine they were great. Our room amenities from toiletries to spring water were replenished daily and the room was very comfortable and spacious. There is a plethora of dining and shopping options all around Hotel Monterey and 7/11, Lawson's, and Family Mart within 3-5 mins in different directions. Even though this property is located right off the street, we had no issues with outside noise at all. Check out process is quick and simple! Be sure to give this one a shot if you're in the area - you won't be sorry."

"North of Kyoto station but public transportation right there. Bus, train, and even cabs. Lots of locations for wonderful Food. Imperial palace a mile north. Nijo castle less than a mile west. Gion a quick subway or a bus ride. The staff was wonderful and supportive. The laundry was on 3,5,7 or 9. 400yen to wash and 200 yen to dry. 7-11 on the immediate corner but the hotel has a restaurant. "
