"A beautifully restored property in lovely Mérida. Off street Parking is just around the corner and plenty good restaurants and cafes within walking distance. We were in a standard double which was rather dark (likely good when weather is hot) so we lounged around by the pool when not out exploring. Bathroom drains can get a bit smelly from time to time but to be expected of a sympathetically restored historic building. "

"casa de palomas is a hidden gem within a few blocks from Calle 60. Sophia and the rest of the staff were lovely, very attentive and went above and beyond. The side streets off Calle 60 are a bit rough around the edges, but come to life at night. Bring a good pair of walking shoes and prepare for uneven ground. There are plenty of great restaurants and art galleries a walk away. "

"The staff were excellent - helpful and friendly. The hotel was nice and it had a “trust bar” where customer serve themselves and record their purchase in a book to settle at checkout. The room was clean and very spacious - but the shower was very weak and most days had no hot water. The area was convenient but the paving was very uneven and it was very dark at night. But it was safe and quiet."

"Beautiful hotel, staff very friendly, made us feel at home. Breakfast was delicious. Pool si very small. It’s a beautiful boutique hotel at ground level so expect some traffic noise, if you are a light sleeper maybe you better look for a different option, for us it was not an issue and we enjoyed every minute we spent there. Can’t wait to visit them again. Thanks."

"In all of our years of traveling throughout Mexico. The Hotel Hacienda VIP was one of the nicest, well staffed, convenient, beautiful, well appointed, colonial hotels we've ever experienced. The entire staff and the owners were so personable, knowledgeable, kind, courteous and willing to help with any issues or questions. I have to single out Armando and Lucy. They were so helpful throughout our entire stay at the hotel. Lucy helped arrange our return shuttle ride back to the airport. And...

"This lovely old hotel has both a gracious staff and classical Mexican accommodations. The furnishings highlight old world charm and exquisite taste. There is wonderful artwork throughout the property, and the rooms are large, the beds are comfortable, the rooms are beautifully appointed, and the staff took excellent care of us. Breakfast was so delicious and filling that we couldn’t eat again until dinner. One of the nicest hotels we’ve ever stayed in."
