Downtown area. Much like other cities. Busy but walkable. Some homeless nearby but I walked the area with no worries. Beaches are close and plenty of fine dining and shopping within walking distance. Public scoters available for zipping around too.

The Long Beach area is great. I would highly recommend visiting the Queen Mary ship, and fyi, the Queen Mary is also a hotel and not much more than the price of the Extended Stay. We had really great Lyft drivers that would recommend things to do.

When visiting, make a point to head over to Belmont Shores for dining & shopping - easy walking area with cool stores & yummy restaurants in Long Beach! We also were lucky enough to find metered parking on the street in the heart of the area!

Lots of unhoused people, but I never felt unsafe and I walked solo as a woman multiple times in the city. Must try spot: Ammatolis- their Mediterranean brunch was absolutely phenomenal. I also love the juice bar, Rainbow Juice.

Long Beach has a great beach and lots of jogging areas. There are scores of good restaurants. Long Beach does have a significant amount of homeless and some run down areas that are near the downtown area.

I've been attending the Long Beach Grand Prix since 1974. The city has gone from seedy to impressive and beautiful. Plenty of food choices and is close to L.A. and Orange County.

Everything you want to do is right here in Long Beach whether it's to go to the ocean or hang out downtown or just hang out in the city. It is a wonderful place to live and vacation and I'm doing a staycation.

Long beach near Queen Mary and Pike Outlet was a lovely clean and wonderful area, the tourist area was nice but i would avoid the area more in the center of the city it didnt look safe at all

I recommend the Super Mex restaurant just a couple of blocks away and make sure to try their "Guest Favorite." It's a chicken fajita bowl, which was super delicious and filling. I also loved that the hotel was blocks from the beach and shopping.
