"We had a wonderful stay at Villa Hakone Stage. The Villa itself is quite spacious (we had a family of three staying) - a welcome change from the cramped living conditions in Tokyo. The villa was clean and very comfortable. The location is right next to both the "pirate" ship port and the ropeway to the top of Owakudani. We arrived via the Romance Car and Hakone Tozan Train from Shinjuku and then caught the Cable Car and Ropeway to the villa (it is a short walk from the Ropeway station). The host...

"We had a great experience. The place is on great condition, instructions for wifi and appliances are super friendly for foreigners. Can’t beat the location. Walking distance to Open Air Museum, translation and a 711."

"Great amenities, spacious villa with a private onsen bath. If I had one criticism, the main bathroom had a musty, wet rag odor indicating possible mold/mildew growth. Suggest management use bleach solution or a power jet washer to thoroughly clean the bathroom areas. Other than that, family had a good stay and u recommend this property. "

"The owner is not kind or friendly, I had to wait in rain around 40 minutes before a kind neighbor arrived and helped, no bed is ok but tatami and everything is short, I’m 5’8 only and I had to try sleeping in half moon position, no bathroom attached bed room, at night time you have to go down into a very steep stairs which is dangerous, no taxi can enter the premise and will not come to get you. "Overall the staff at the hotel were very friendly except when we went to the Japanese restaurant to see if there is a table for lunch, we were turn down with a very rude attitude. Also the bed is a bit old, you could felt the spring in the mattress."

"Excellent onsen ryokan at a very competitive price. You to select three 50 minute sessions in one of the three on-site onsens per day (one in the morning, two in then evening). The staff were friendly and accommodating. It's a bit of a hike uphill from the station but nothing someone moderately fit can't handle."
