Explore themed worlds and enjoy exciting rides and attractions at one of Disney's famous ultra-modern resorts.

Located on Lantau Island near Discovery Bay, Hong Kong Disneyland® consists of several themed areas and attracts millions of visitors each year. It’s smaller in comparison to the other Disney parks, but families with young children can spend a very enjoyable day here.

Hong Kong Disneyland® opened its doors in 2005 and has undergone significant expansion since then. When designing the park, Disney attempted to incorporate ancient Chinese traditions such as the principles of feng shui, for example, by creating a bend in a walkway near the entrance so that good qi energy wouldn’t flow out into the sea.

At the entrance, be sure to pick up a free guidebook in English to help you navigate the various themed areas, including Main Street, U.S.A.® Area ,  Adventureland® Area, Toy Story® Land and Tomorrowland® Area.

Tomorrowland® Area features an area with small fountains for children to run around, so if the weather’s warm, be sure to pack a change of clothes. Space Mountain® Attraction is great for older kids, though most rides throughout the park are more suitable for children aged 5 through 9.

Grizzly Gulch® Area meanwhile reminds visitors of an abandoned mining town, featuring the Welcome Wagon show and runaway mine carts. Young artists will love the nearby Animation Academy, where they can learn the secrets behind drawing Disney characters.

The Disneyland® Railroad takes visitors from place to place. If walking gets too much for the little ones, there are strollers for rent at the resort. You may also want to book a room for the night at one of the two Disney-themed hotels, the Hollywood Hotel and the Disneyland® Hotel, to save a journey back with tired children. You can also catch the fireworks display at 9 p.m. every evening.

Hong Kong Disneyland® offers special entertainment on both Chinese and Western holidays, including Halloween and Chinese New Year. Ticket prices can be quite expensive at any time of year, so it’s worth checking the various passes available on the park’s website.

Take the MTR for easy access to the park, which has its own Disneyland® Resort MTR station.
