Holualoa Vacation Rentals

"Wonderful in so many ways. Great kick off to our vacation with lots of fun things to do. Breathtaking grounds and world class Asian art and sculpture everywhere. Favorite activity was snorkeling in the lagoon; the fish were gorgeous and one family member had a memorable encounter with a gentle sea turtle. Housekeeping staff is amazing and helpful. Love the proximity to the Queens shoppes and the marketplace with delicious inexpensive food to take away. Suggestion: turn the Nui Nui (sp?) Italian restaurant at the hotel into a casual (affordable) breakfast diner in the morning. The breakfast buffet is amazing, but at $55 per person it is not a realistic place to grab breakfast daily. In all, we can’t wait to return to the Hilton Waikaloa and stay at the Makai Tower with its inspiring views and spacious rooms. "

"This property is excellent by any measure. The lobby and surrounding patio is gorgeous; especially at night with the torches lit. There was a guitarist each night with drink/food service. Pool area is beautiful; plenty of chairs for all guests which is unusual. Drink/food service was always available. The entire grounds is well manicured. The lagoon is very pretty and loaded with fish. Many places to sit of an evening with several fire places on the grounds and near the beach. Really a lovely setting. Only downside was the price of food which did borderline a little silly. Breakfast, although very good food quality and presentation, price was $50 per person. Drinks are $14 and above. Dinner was very good, again very high priced. We noted many persons were going to the nearby grocery store up the road to stock up. Very nice food choices at store but keep in mind there is no microwave in the rooms. Rooms were perfect."

"Definitely will stay again. Love the spacious room. The full kitchen and the in-unit washer & dryer are awesome must-haves. Also, can't beat the free and easy parking (yay, no valet!). Front desk staff were friendly, welcoming, and made great dining recommendations. Would love to see the property upgrade its flatscreen TVs to Smart TVs so I can stream movies and shows via apps like Netflix, Prime, etc. I made due with my iPad. Would love to see the gym/fitness center updated and upgraded. In fact, the last day I was there, they were in the process of remodeling the gym. I hope to return to have a chance to see the updates and work out! The concierge team can be a little pushy at times with tours and what I think was probably a Wyndham/Shell timeshare vacation membership. I didn't attend so I can't confirm that's what it was but it certainly sounded like a sit-down sales event. It wasn't mandatory, and I know they're just trying to do their jobs like everyone else, so I can overlook it. Hey, everyone's trying to get their bag so, no harm no foul. I didn't want to do any fancy tours or adventures, either. I was looking to do really chill, relaxing things, and just hang like a local. Overall, I had a great time at this place. I didn't want to leave. I had a very relaxing and carefree experience. Mahalo! P.S. - There are several cute and adorable outdoor cats (possibly wild?) on the property as well as geckos. Be on the lookout so you can try to take photos of them! "

"This hotel is a great refresh of an old hotel. So it’s old but refine very well. Rooms are serene, mood lighting is perfect, good outlets. Bed and pillows are Devine! Partial ocean view was a great room category. Staff was the best!"

"The unit we stayed in was well appointed and had everything we needed. They supplied much more than other timeshare units we have stayed in. We have arrived late and had enough toilet paper, tissues, paper towels, etc. to get us through the first few days. The decor was modern and, although the unit was surface cleaned, it could definitely use a deep cleaning. We had an issue with the dishwasher and dryer, both issues were resolved quickly by maintenance. The office staff was very friendly as was everyone we met on the grounds. There is only one small pool and hot tub at this location but we never found it overcrowded. It’s very close to the stores and Restaurants at Waikoloa but is a 30 to 40 minute drive to downtown Kona. We appreciated the location, but if you want to spend a lot of time in the Kona area, it might be a little far. The first seven days we were staying with our timeshare and found out that you need to pay $10 a day for air conditioning. We booked three additional days directly and apparently you don’t have to pay for air conditioning for those days. We did not wind up needing the air conditioning at all the whole time we were there but it’s something you’ll want to be aware of. Because it’s up in the mountains, a little bit, there was always a beautiful, cool breeze in the evenings. You need to be very mindful of the speed limits, we saw many people getting speeding tickets when we were there. Overall, I would recommend the Resort. "
