"The Mariposa was perfect from the start, even during our planning. They assisted us in our trip plans from Belize City to Placenia by booking our flights and providing information. They also provided transportation from the airport to the resort. When we arrived, we were greeted by staff and a tropical cocktail or mocktail. Our accommodations in the tree house exceeded our expectations. It was spacious, clean, comfortable, and had plenty of amenities. It is also beautiful. The staff was friendly, courteous, helpful, accommodating, and resourceful. The food and drinks at the restaurant on premises were delicious. There was a good variety of options as well as some authentic Belizean dishes. When I travel outside the U.S., I enjoy experiencing other cultures. We were able to do that at the Mariposa. I’d like to mention that George, Miguel, Donny, and Gladys were exceptional. They went out of their way each and every time we wanted or needed anything. Donny really took special care of us in all aspects of our trip- food, recommendations for tours and places to eat or drink or shop. Gladys coordinated our tours for when we wanted to do them. "Very beautiful resort with a lovely beach. It was quiet even though it was full. Everything we tried at the restaurant was delicious. Everyone at the resort was kind and thoughtful and made our favorite drinks, even if they’d never made one before. Outstanding place. "

"The property is fantastic and set up well. The host are great and a lot of fun to hang out with. The pool is a nice touch. They have a nice lounge with a TV and a nice kitchen area. They have free bikes. They will do laundry for you on site. The bathrooms are very clean and offer some privacy even though they are not located in the rooms. They have a honesty bar where you can grab a beer or a Coke and drop a few bucks in a cup next to the fridge. They had some nice things in the room like toothbrushes, a small tube of toothpaste, shampoo, and a comb. I didn’t realize that the room didn’t have air conditioning, but they lhad a nice ceiling fan and an oscillating stick fan in the room so it wasn’t bad. The only thing I would suggest is better mattresses. I could feel the springs poking through the mattress in our room. It’s new. It’s just very basic and not very comfortable. All in all we had a fantastic time at Royal Rat and we would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to others. "
