Discover one of the most famous theaters in Florida and enjoy many different performances, from opera to fun kids’ shows.

The Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts is a renowned art hub where you can find a great number of productions, including ballet, comedy gigs, classical theater plays, educational exhibits and even outdoor festivals. Find the site in Florida’s Downtown Orlando. Many international and national artists choose this venue for performances in the metro area.

The center consists of several theaters, where you can enjoy different types of shows. The largest location is the Walt Disney Theater, which is inspired by ancient Greek classical theaters. Admire the beautiful and sizeable space adorned with ivory sails hanging from the ceiling. Here you can often see celebrated Broadway musicals in the 2,700-seat venue.

Another venue in the Dr. Phillips Center is the Alexis & Jim Pugh Theater. Discover an intimate room with aluminum balconies and a ceiling covered in more than 30 abstract art pieces created by the artist Tom McGrath.

The Bob Carr Theater is also part of Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts system. Find it about 1 mile (1.6 kilometers) north of the main campus. It has been a well-known theater since 1927, when it was called the Orlando Municipal Auditorium. The beautifully renovated building has hosted performers as famous as Elvis Presley.

While you are waiting for a show to start, wander around the colorful Della Phillips Grand Lobby. Visit one of the bars available on several tiers to enjoy a drink and snack.

The theme parks Walt Disney Resort and Universal Orlando Resort are about a 30-minute from Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts. The center is in Downtown Orlando and is easily reached from the west or east coasts of Florida. Use valet parking or park your car in the nearby garage. You can also arrive using public transportation, with several bus stops at or around the center. The local rail line SunRail has a stop in Church Street, a few minutes away from Dr. Phillips Center on foot.
