"Myself and my partner stayed here with our 1 year old for 2 nights for my birthday. The location is perfect if you want to park your car and not use it all weekend! There is either one space at the back of the property and you pay a deposit for a permit or there's a manned multi story car park just over the road. "Our visit to Mellington Hall Country House Hotel was fantastic. The property is amazing, the staff were really attentive and amazing also. "A hotel full of character with modern facilities. Limited hotel parking at extra cost, we got in early. Evening dining was great, high quality food in a pleasant restaurant. Room was pretty good but not great, all together reasonably priced. Very central to the market town of Ludlow, good shops, interesting area with a castle and walks. Recommended, we would stay again. "Beautiful building in the heart of town. Staff were very pleasant and attentive. Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast and Dinner beautifully cooked. Plenty parking space at the rear of the hotel, but you need to drive around the one way system to reach it. If you miss its location, the hotel provided good directions to locate the entrance."

Great location and wonderful building

"The hotel is in a great location in the centre of Ludlow. There is on site parking and the castle is a few minutes walk away. Check in was simple and we navigated through the meandering corridors to reach our rooms. It’s a 400 year old building so there are stairs, steps and turns as well as some fabulous wood panelling and glass. My room, 104, was a good size with an excellent modern bathroom. The bed was large and comfortable, there was a good sized desk plus additional seating and the sockets all had USB ports too. The room was quiet, overlooking the car park and despite the hotel being busy there was no noise intrusion from other guests. Breakfast was excellent, buffet with various cooked to order options. Not excessive but good sized portions and decent service. Overall a lovely stay in a fabulous location."

"Lovely 2 night stay at the Lion Hotel, regularly visit Shrewsbury and thought of staying here for a change , we were pleasantly surprised, after reading some of the reviews, so please do not discard this hotel because of some negative reviews, you need to stay here to find out for yourself. Easy check in , staff very helpful and always ready to greet you with a smile and hello. Room lovely and clean and nice and warm, as we're all the areas of the hotel. Breakfast was really good, plenty of it, and the lady at breakfast was so lovely, always smiling and nothing was too.much for her, thankyou. Will deffinately recommend the Lion hotel to friends and family, and we will be back. Also £5 per night to park your car there, which is really good value, and very convenient for shops and bars. "

"All the staff were friendly and welcoming which we loved. The hotel is centrally located but in a very quite position. At breakfast there was a good choice and brilliant service. Our only negative is that it is a little dated but as it is well maintained and very clean we would absolutely stay here again. "
