If you’re not prepared, traveling can be overwhelming. But there’s no need to hit the panic button just yet. Follow these handy tips and enjoy a stress-free start to your time in Playa del Carmen. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane trip can be a pleasure if you carry the right gear. First things first, you’ll need basic toiletries, such as lip balm and hand cream, a clean pair of socks and a good book. Secondly, find room in your hand luggage for your mobile phone, a charger, your medications and perhaps a proper neck pillow as well. Lastly, and most importantly, don’t forget to take your passport, travel documents and some money.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Double-check that you don’t have sharp objects (like a pocket knife) hiding in one of the zippers of your carry-on luggage. Other restricted items include flammable or explosive goods, such as fuel and fireworks, and gels and liquids in containers larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters).
What to wear on a flight:
- Your aim here is to make yourself as comfortable as possible. Layer yourself up in natural-fiber clothing and bring a pullover just in case you get cold. Go for a pair of well-fitting, flat shoes as it’s possible that your feet and ankles will swell a little during the journey. Leave the high heels and heavy boots in your checked luggage.
- It’s likely you’ve heard about deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot condition caused by reduced mobility or inactivity. There are many ways to reduce your risk. Wear a pair of compression socks or tights, drink lots of water and remember to keep your legs and feet moving. Do a few laps of the cabin or perform some stretches in your seat.
