Castel Monastero - The Leading Hotels of the World

5.0 star property
8.8 out of 10, Excellent, (139)
"The property was nice but the front desk reception staff was a bit rude. Didn’t explain any procedures to us when we arrived such as how to use the room key (not intuitive), when and how breakfast was served. Unable to get continental breakfast figured out for us after two tries (two mornings). No paper menu on the second day so we couldn’t order as we got in pretty late. Then they charged us €50 for room service because we didn’t fill out the form. What?? Spa services were a different story....

Castello di Gargonza

3.0 star property
9.2 out of 10, Wonderful, (39)
"Property is stunning. Small medieval village with an awesome pool in the hills of Tuscany. As for the rooms, you are camping in a medieval village. Expedia claims A/C, but we did not have. the rooms that have A/C are only portable units. A little tough when it is a hot August in Tuscany. The beds are horrible. Again you are camping in a medieval village. Location is very remote from other Tuscany towns. That being said, it is a beautiful place to camp in a medieval village. "

"We loved this hotel. Its staff is as helpful, willing, and present as at a very high-end hotel and as friendly and personable as at a cozy b&b. Our room was lovely--sunny, spacious, and comfortable--and the shower was perfect! The breakfast buffet in the morning was amazing, too. Two tables full of savory and sweet options including an array of cheeses, charcuterie, ricotta-stuffed zucchini flowers, asparagus wrapped in bacon, baby eggplant stuffed with tomatoes, polenta. There was fresh fruit,...
