Canet de Berenguer (known as Canet d’En Berenguer in Valencian) is a town in the province of Valencia that lies on the shores of the Mediterranean sea, next to the mouth of the River Palancia. Like any Valencian seaside town worth its salt, it boasts idyllic beaches. The beach of Canet has been awarded the blue flag year after year, and it’s not hard to see why: 1,300 yards of fine, soft sand and crystalline waters await, as well as a beautiful set of dunes. Make sure to pack your sun cream and enjoy our cheap trips to Canet de Berenguer.
Once you’ve had enough R&R at the beach, head up the promenade and visit the lighthouse of Cabo Canet, a 100-foot-high building inaugurated in 1904. The locals love to play sports in this area, and you’ll also find plenty of leisure and dining options.
Another monument that’s well worth a visit is the parish church of San Pedro Apóstol. This temple was built in the 13th century on top of an even older temple. The temple still retains a Byzantine-style altarpiece that was saved by an anonymous resident of the town from the fire that engulfed the temple during the Spanish Civil War.
If you’re looking for a more active style of tourism, then you’ll be happy to hear there are several hiking trails for you to enjoy. One of the best known is the one that goes from the promenade of Canet d’En Berenguer to Puerto Sagunto, a small town belonging to the neighbouring municipality. This route goes on for some 4 miles along the River Palancia.
