The Cabanne House is a 19th-century replica of a historic mansion built in 1819. It was constructed in the Second Empire style and used as a residence for park commissioners and superintendents. Reach the house at the northern edge of Forest Park and admire the intriguing features making up its façade.
Marking the front is a set of white outdoor steps with black railings. Stand inside the portico, which is flanked by white pillars. A vintage lantern hangs from the ceiling and a light blue door leads the way inside. Admire the rest of the exterior, which consists of a redbrick façade with long arched windows, a mansard roof and imposing pediments.
Attend an event or activity in the house and imagine dining with the previous inhabitants of this historic structure many decades ago. Baby showers, corporate meetings and birthday parties are among the regular private events that use the house today.
Inside, notice the marble features and 14-foot-high (4.3-meter) ceilings. Go for a walk in the picturesque surroundings of Forest Park, which has a golf course, tennis courts and a zoo.
Note that this site was built in 1875 according to plans drawn up by local architect James H. McNamara. The house is available to rent for catered events daily from morning until midnight. It has a maximum seating capacity of 50 and a standing allowance of 100. Check the official website for details about fees and regulations.
