Explore the impressive home of one of Israel’s most celebrated poets for a glimpse into his private life, poetic works and cultural interests.

Discover the story of a national poet in Bialik House (Beit Bialik), the historic home of Chaim Nahman Bialik. This castle-like structure is an architectural marvel from the early 20th century. Step inside to see the poet’s private art collections, vast library and rooms laid out as he would have experienced them. House tours guide you through the life and works of this beloved artist.

Bring your camera for photos of the impressive Bauhaus-style building, which was constructed in 1925 soon after Bialik moved to Israel. The writer is famed for creating stirring poems in Modern Hebrew, helping to bring about the 20th-century revival of the ancient language.

Admire the interior from the moment you step through its doors. The spacious rooms are influenced by Islamic architecture and are decorated with rich red and blue paint. The house still features furniture and artwork from Bialik’s life in the home, as well as examples of works from his collection. Look for ceramic art depicting stories from the Bible.

Join one of the tours that take you through the building to learn about the literature and influence of Bialik. An exhibit dedicated to his writing shows how his 94 books have spread around the world through numerous translations. Find original manuscripts of his writing on display throughout the house.

A room for children brings his poetry alive for younger visitors. Listen to readings of Bialik’s work and enjoy illustrations of his writing. The house charts the various influences on the writer, from fun word games to a shadow theater.

Bialik House is located on a street also named after the poet. Numerous buses travel to the nearby street corners. Walk here in about 15 minutes from Frishman Beach or stroll here from the nearby Dizengoff Center. Opening hours are limited on weekends and many of the exhibits are in Hebrew, so pick up an information pamphlet in English.
