"Property decor was a little 70s retro, which was fun for us. That said, the property was clean. We got the half board package which included buffet dinner and lunch. Both had a wide selection of food and were good. Our room had great views of both mountain and sea. In the morning, we saw steam from the onsen in the mountain. Staff were friendly. "

"The staff was excellent. They provided transportation to and from the train station. Very good food with attentive staff. We enjoyed the family onsen which you can reserve for 40 minutes. The futons (bedding) were a little on the thin side for me. Also the internet was on the weak side and slow. "

"Nice property just off the main street, near train station. It is pet friendly with 3 resident cats roaming around the lobby. You get to book 2 sessions at the baths after checked in, the semi open bath on the 2nd level is popular, while the rooftop bath may not be a good idea in cold weather although the view is great. You get free use of the bicycles for your stay. There is no lift so you have to carry your luggages up and down the stairs."

"Quiet location just a short walk from the train station. Superb ryokan experience with modern amenities throughout. If you’re fortunate enough to get a room with a private onsen, you can enjoy all manner of luxury beyond the available public onsen facilities. "This is one of the best experiences I had. I enjoyed the authentic Japanese hospitality. I was greeted and escorted to the lobby. The staff led me to my room showing me all the facilities. The room is spacious and impeccably clean. The area is serene, and the Beppu Park is right next to the Hotel, which I enjoyed in a morning walk."

"Had a lovely one-night staybat the resort. Enjoyed our private onsen and the many amenities the room offered (including no less than 4 different types of slippers :) for various uses. Breakfast selection was really good, with both a Japanese and Western spread. Would have loved to stay another night and discover Beppu a bit more."

"The breakfast was simple and nice. It was a good way to kick start our morning. My girl totally enjoyed the breakfast. The room was spacious and clean. We love the laundry room at level 2. Life saving. Staff were nice and helpful too. "

Good location and place, but bad customer service

"Good location and place, but bad customer service. Clean place with beds, kitchenette, shower, and washing machine. A major hiccup - bad customer service. Unmanned accommodation, so had to contact customer service via the tablet in the lobby entrance for any issue. No hot water for shower on winter night. Customer service staff unhelpful and bad attitude. Claimed that we didn't follow instructions. Contacted Hotels.com customer service agent, equally bad. 1st agent tried to brush me off by saying that he would give me 67 bucks to end case. Literally treating me like a beggar. Had to get 2-3 agents for someone to get hotel staff to do the right thing. Ended up the room tablet (with all instructions) was spoilt when technician came to check heater. Technician who came by was helpful and took time to explain workaround approach and how to make things work. "
