"Owners were very friendly and helpful. This is a family friendly hostal with no partying, drinking, loud music. Made it easy to sleep. Rooms are basic, no AC, no hot water but private bathroom in our room. Bedroom could use fresh coat of paint but everything was clean. For the price it was a great value. Without a car it is likely further from the beach than easily accessible. We had our own car so it was a short drive. We would definitely recommend this hostal."

"I loved the location, a bit away from the center. We had a rental car and there was an enclosed parking spot for us. The owner and staff were wonderful, kind and very helpful. The pool was great with plenty of shady spots for the adults to sit and watch them play. Breakfast was healthy and tasty. Our room had ample space and the beds were very comfortable."

"Balsa Surf Camp is like staying with family! It has a wonderful atmosphere, and the location is nice and quiet within a very easy walk to town. For a surfing adventure, everything is at your fingertips and the team are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I thoroughly enjoyed the daily yoga, thank you to the wonderful instructor Darcy Lynch. I will visit Montanita again, and I wouldn't think of staying anywhere other than Balsa. "

"Gorgeous grounds, wonderful staff, safe location, quiet and removed from downtown noise. Rooms had a tropical rustic vibe. The hotel was exactly what I was looking for and it was great! "We always write what we did like and what we didn't like so much. Onto the not so much to get to the awesome! The only thing we can think of is we didn't feel as secure as we could have with the room. The windows can't be left open (screens) if you want your items as protected as possible that makes it stuffy and warmer in the room when you are gone. "It was quiet area. I was unable to contact host on arrival, it is an out of way location, quite stressful. It worked out but id suggest a sign at gate so guest knows they are in right place, plus an intercom or bell. I went in order to have a quiet place, it definitely delivered. "Not a great spot, but the rooms are nice, they have an additional screen door to help keep mosquitoes out of the hallway where the doors to the rooms are. I didn’t use the shared kitchen & it seemed like the free coffee was just the instant kind. Good for the price, the parking is on the street & I was told to pull half my car up onto the curb, so not ideal, but could’ve been worse. Music from nearby bars & clubs goes a little harder & later into the night than I would like."

"We checked out after one sleepless night. Our room was so loud inside it felt like we were in a nightclub, but worse, because it was a mixture of 3-4 nearby clubs and bars music.
