On this tour, you will explore the Metropolitan Cathedral of Santiago. Through extensive stairs, you will ascend to the bell tower and then reach an incredible viewpoint at the top of the temple. From here, you will have the best view of Santiago's historic center, with an amazing panoramic view of Plaza de Armas and the surrounding buildings such as the Municipality of Santiago, Correos de Chile, and the National Historical Museum, among others.
The history of the Metropolitan Cathedral dates back to 1745 when the construction of the current temple began, which became the fifth church built on this site, facing Plaza de Armas. It was finally consecrated in 1775, and a few years later, Italian architect Joaquín Toesca was in charge of the construction of the current facade. The Cathedral was declared a Historic Monument of Chile on July 6, 1951.
