Learn about the biodiversity of Portugal and the country’s history of landscape gardening with an informative trip to Serralves Park. See the incredible diversity of trees and shrubs at Serralves, consituting approximately 8,000 examples of plants and representing around 230 species and varieties.
See how landscape gardening changed in Portugal from the 19th and 20th centuries, right up to the present day. Serralves Park opened to the public in 1987 and was enhanced between 2001 and 2006. The aim of the project is to educate the public on the importance of protecting landscape heritage and reconciling it with the needs of contemporary society.
The Park's programming is founded on the development of programming cycles intended to take place on an annual basis. Playful dimensions and learning processes underlie the main structural and complementary aspects of the programme of activities for the general public.
