The 'Santa Lucia' watermill, located in the valley of the mills in the municipality of Palazzolo Acreide, is the fourth in a series of mills that were set in motion by the waters of the Purbella stream. Its presence is attested as far back as the 16th century. It is still intact in its parts, immersed in an unspoilt valley, overshadowed by oaks and walnuts. The rooms house the Grain Mill Museum, where photos, short texts, graphics, millstones of various shapes and different historical periods illustrate the evolution of grain milling techniques, from prehistoric times to the use of hydraulic power. After decades of inactivity, the ancient milling activity was reactivated in December 2000, following the restoration of all technical elements.
