What you can expect

Experience the December 7, 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor from the place bombs first fell on the fateful day. Discover how aviation began and defined the war in the Pacific, and rose out of the ashes of Pearl Harbor to inspire hope, redefine freedom, and galvanize a nation to overcome.

Spanning two historic WWII-era hangers filled with aircraft exhibits, and artifacts of the men and women who gave their lives for freedom, Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum offers a can't-miss stop on your pilgrimage to Pearl Harbor.

Step into Hangar 37, a 42,000-square-foot (3,900-sq-m) former seaplane hangar that survived the attack on December 7, 1941 and now houses a variety of authentic aircraft from World War II. Grab a seat in the theater to view a short movie covering the attack by Japanese warplanes before exploring an exhibit showcasing life on the islands in prewar days.

As you continue on, visit several authentic aircraft that took part in the battle. See a civilian airplane that was shot down over Oahu, the iconic Japanese A6M Zero, and American P-40 Warhawk fighter planes that took to the air from nearby airfields on the fateful day.

When you visit Hangar 79, look up at blue glass windows that are still riddled with bullet holes from the attack. This hangar used to serve as a maintenance and engine repair facility that prepared aircraft for front-line duty, and now hosts a collection of modern jets and historic helicopters.

Take a look at the Korean War exhibit, which showcases several planes that flew in this early war of the Jet Age, including the famous Soviet MiG-15. There is also a diorama that depicts “MiG Alley,” the stretch of airspace over North Korea that became famous for dogfights between United Nations, North
