This isn't your average North Shore Tour. Along the route, we share epic tales of Godʻs and Goddesses, Chief's, and Commoners, as well as surf stories, terms, and traditional information.
We begin this self-driving tour at the Windward Shopping Mall and give turn-by-turn directions to locations along the way. We included all the classic stops as well as some lesser known places and you can easily turn this into a food tour
Ocean and traffic conditions vary drastically, but you can typically expect calm, peaceful ocean conditions in the summer. In the winter, itʻs the exact opposite.

This tour begins in the Windward Shopping Mall parking lot in Kāne'ohe. You can get food, supplies, and more before starting the route.
Leonard's Malasada Mobile

Leonardʻs Bakery has several Malasada mobileʻs stationed conveniently around the island. We recommend beginning this tour at this one in the parking lot of the Windward Mall in Kāne'ohe.
Waiahole Poi Factory (Pass by)
Waiāhole Poi Factory has a location in the Windward Mall where we begin this tour. This route will also take you to the original location. We highly recommend stopping at one to sample delicious Hawaiian food.
Tropical Farms (The Macadamia Nut Farm Outlet)

Stop and sample macadamia nuts, coffee, and other local flavors. They also have souvenirs, a fruit stand and clean restrooms.
Kualoa Regional Park

Visit Kualoa Regional Beach Park to view the Ko'olau Mountain Range and Mokoli'i, often called "Chinamanʻs Hat." A shallow swim area is at the far end of the parking lot past the roundabout.
Kualoa Ranch (Pass by)
The Visitor Center at Kualoa Ranch is a free stop for photo opportunities, souvenir shopping, food, and more. They also have several paid tours and excursions which must be booked independently and in advance.
The Crouching Lion (Pass by)
A local favorite fine dining experience with breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean between Kualoa Ranch and Kahana Valley.

This trail has recently become famous through social media. Plenty of opportunities exist to slip or get lost, so please be cautious if you try this hike.
Kahana Bay Beach Park (Pass by)
Beautiful beach park with typically shallow, calm seas, and a soft sand beach thatʻs typically empty during the weekdays.
Keneke's Grill at Punaluu (Pass by)
Great spot for local food and plate lunches. The restaurant was featured in the television reboot of "I Know What You Did Last Summer."
Chings' Punaluu Store (Pass by)
General store with great poke and poi featured in the movie "Next Goal Wins." Located near a couple shrimp trucks and across the street from a beach.
Tamura's Market Hau'ula (Pass by)
Grocery store with supplies for the trip as well as an excellent poke bar with a variety of flavors and styles.
Papa Ole's Kitchen (Pass by)
A favorite for local-style plate lunches and barbeque. Their most popular items sell out fast so get there early.
Pounder's Beach (Pass by)
This beach has an extremely dangerous shore break and a variety of marine creatures living nearby. Please do not swim here.
Polynesian Cultural Center (Pass by)
The Polynesian Cultural Center has different villages representing various islands in Polynesia and a lū'au and dinner show in the evenings. Tickets must be booked independently and in advance.
Hukilau Marketplace (Pass by)
Souvenir shopping at the Cultural Center with food trucks, the Polynesian Football Hall of Fame and clean restrooms.
Tutu's Sweet Shop (Pass by)
Tutuʻs Sweet Shop offers Dole Pineapple Whip and a variety of other sweet treats at the Polynesian Cultural Center and Hukilau Marketplace.
Hukilau Beach Park (Pass by)
Beach Park between the Polynesian Cultural Center and Mālaekahana State Park. There are no restrooms or lifeguards.
La’ie Point State Wayside

Often called the Lā'ie Lookout, Laniloa offers breathtaking views of the Ko'olau Mountain Range on Windward O'ahu.
Gunstock Ranch (Pass by)

Corn dog truck with a local twist on the flavor. Located across from Kahuku High School.

Convenience store near the Kahuku Sugar Mill that has supplies as well as excellent poke.
Giovanni's Shrimp Truck (Pass by)
This is probably the most famous shrimp truck on the island of O'ahu. They serve Scampi, Lemon Butter, and Ghost pepper Spicy Shrimp, as well as garlic hot dogs.

Great option for Hawaiian and local plates including smoked meat, Kalua pig, laulau and more.
Hula Ula (Pass by)
Food truck with shrimp, kalua pig, poke, churros, and a lobster corndog as well as plantation ice tea.

We end this tour at Hale'iwa Beach Park on the North Shore of O'ahu which is an excellent spot to see turtles.
