This full-day trip will give a getaway from bustling Saigon to unwind at nature Can Gio Biosphere Reserve with mangrove forest. You will have an opportunity to observe the wildlife animals such as crocodiles, wild cats, otters, pythons, and wild monkeys and take a small adventure seeing mangroves with special roots on the way by canoe. Do not miss an interesting story of Vietnam history during the visit to Rung Sac Guerilla Base.

You will be pickup at your hotels in Saigon center area in the morning and take a drive by jeep to Can Gio Biosphere Reserve- the mangrove forests of the UNESCO Covering an area of over 70,000 ha, of which 35,000 ha is salt-watered forest. It will take less than 1 hour journey to get there and then you will take a local ferry to cross Saigon River. The ferry is busy most of the time and irritating sometimes but it will not be bad if you spend time watching local people or surrounding sights along the river.

After that, you will keep driving for more than 30kms through biosphere. Upon arrival, let’s take a quick visit to Can Gio Museum with archaeological relics, as well as unique flora and fauna which show the biodiversity of the mangrove forest and introduce the heroes who fought for independence and their battles. You also can observe the wildlife of crocodiles, wild cats, otters, pythons, and wild monkeys who are so bold that you even can feed and touch them.

Continue your journey, you then will move on to Rung Sac Guerilla Base in the mangrove forest, this is the major part of the day. The canoe (schedule depends on tides) goes along the waterway and it is a small adventure seeing mangroves with special roots on the way. You will pay a visit to the base which stationed from the period of 1966 -1975 and used to be an important base camp to set up over 1,000 combats to Saigon. You will visit not only the memorial statue but also some houses used as the guerilla headquarter, guest house, military supply area, small arm workshop, and information center about Rung Sac Guerilla.

After having lunch, you will see Whale’s royal tomb which hold giant skeleton of whale. You will be back to Saigon by jeep in the afternoon. Tour ends at your hotel in Saigon center.
