Cradle of Emperors, Italica was the first city founded by the Romans in the Peninsula and one of the most visited archaeological and monumental complexes in Andalusia. It was created in 206 B.C. As a place of settlement of the Roman veterans after winning the Second Punic War against the Carthaginians, defeated by the African Scipion troops. So good were the circumstances that surrounded this provisional city that many of the soldiers decided to stay here, founding Italica. Good times happened until they reached the birth of the Betic emperors: Trajan and Adriano, who gave the city great splendor. He then created a big rest city with great domus and important public buildings, such as larger hot springs and the amphitheater that, after the last studies, is known to be the second largest in the Roman Empire, only behind the great coliseum in Rome. And it was right here, in this amphitheater where Game of Thrones decided Merenderos where to rest after the visit.
