Ever wanted to shake up your yoga practice? Try some poses on a stand-up paddleboard while floating in Hawaii's tropical waters. During this 75-minute class, led by an experienced instructor, you will learn to adapt familiar seated, kneeling, and reclining yoga poses for the water. Work on balance and core stability with some standing poses and use free time to work on any poses you'd like. This class is suitable for all skill levels; the small group size ensures personalized attention.
Meet your instructor and small group at Magic Island, Ala Moana Beach Park in Honolulu. While still on shore, your instructor will explain basic paddleboard yoga principles, including how best to stay balanced and centered on the board. Then you will wade with your board out to waist-deep water where you will drop an anchor. (So not to worry if you are not a strong swimmer, we will stay shallow the whole class). Class begins with a seated meditation, then moves through a series of yoga poses adapted for the water. Our experienced instructors will offer various options to suit your ability level throughout the class. As you gain confidence, you can play with some fun balance challenges, and maybe even fall in! The class closes with a blissful savasana, gently rocking with the waves, with fingers and toes free to trail in the water.
