Activity itinerary

Bergen
  • 1m
Our tour starts in the city of Bergen - the Gateway to the Fjords. The city was founded in 1070 and contains many historical and cultural landmarks. We will pass some of them on our way from the city and on our return to Bergen. The suggested scheduled time for departure is 09:00am.
Osteroy Municipality
  • 1m
Sørfjorden or South fjord is part of Osterfjord which is a peculiar natural phenomenon: an salt water inlet that surrounds the largest inland island in Northern Europe - Osterøy Island - enclosed by continental land. We drive along the South fjord until we come to the crossroads in Trengereid. (Usually, we do not stop here.)
Trengereid
  • 1m
From the village of Trengereid we take Route #7 to the Hardangerfjord. (Usually we do not stop here.)
Hardangervegen
  • 1m
Hardangervegen or Hardanger Road is Norwegian route #7. This road is a tourist attraction. We will see beautiful sights along the way: mountains, lakes and waterfalls. On the way to Hardangerfjord we will make two photo stops at 2 waterfalls: Fossen Bratte and Steinsdalsfossen.
Fossen Bratte
  • 20m
We make a stop at Fossen Bratte waterfall – 259 feet (79 meters) tall. The view is great and you can take some memorable pictures here. A short walking tour to the bottom of the waterfall is highly recommended - you simply must feel the roaring freshness and gentle and pure water drops on your face.
Steinsdalsfossen Waterfall
  • 25m
The next stop is at Steinsdalsfossen waterfall – 164 feet (50 meters) tall. You can actually walk behind the falling water without getting wet. A walk behind the waterfall to the viewpoint is highly recommended.
Thon Hotel Sandven
  • 45m
In Norheimsund we can stop at Hotel Sandven for lunch.
Hardanger Fjord
We continue our journey along the fjord. Enjoy the views: natural beauty of the scenery with small quaint villages scattered along the coast.
Skårsvatnet
  • 15m
After passing through two quaint small towns Norheimsund and Øystese, we take a short detour to the Goldfish Lake – Skårsvatnet – a special lake with a large population of golden orfe. The fish is tame and most of the times can be observed very close to the shore.
Fyksesund Bridge
After the Goldfish Lake we continue on to Fyksesundet – a narrow fjord, which we cross on Fyksesund suspension bridge, built in 1937.
Steinstø Fruktgard
  • 20m
  • Admission ticket included
On the other side of Fyksesundet lies Steinstø – a small farming community with Steinstø fruit farm and fruit kiosk and café. We can stop there for a cup of coffee, a piece of apple pie and a view of the fjord.
Hardanger
  • 1m
The Hardangerfjord is the second longest fjord in Norway. We will be travelling along the fjord to Granvin.
Skjervsfossen Waterfall
  • 15m
On our way to Voss we take a short detour on an alternate road and make a stop at one more waterfall: Skjervsfossen, with its twin falls plunging out from a height of 150 metres.
Vossevangen
  • 15m
After leaving Skjervsfossen waterfall we come to Voss. The main historical attractions are Vangskyrkja – a church from 1277, and the St.Olaf's cross from 1023. We will make a stop here to take Voss Gondol cable car to the top of Mount Hangur (2690 ft / 820 m above sea level).
Voss Gondol
  • 1h 15m
  • Admission ticket included
We take the cable car up the top of Mount Hangur (2690 ft / 820 m above sea level). The tickets are included in the price. The ride take only a couple of minutes. The view is spectacular! At the top of the mountain there is a restaurant, where we can have a meal (not included). The restaurant serves homemade meals, based on local ingredients from several farms in and around Voss. The menu is based on the simple and rustic, combined with great flavours. Due to the restaurant's high focus on local ingredients, the menu changes every day! Our tour can be extended – for extra payment for additional time: During the period without snow we could go for a short hike in the mountains, starting and finishing the hike at the top of the mountain. During the winter period with snow your guide can help you with renting skis and other equipment, and you can try out the slopes.
Bergen
  • 5m
We return from Voss to Bergen, where our tour ends. Suggested scheduled time for return is 6:30pm.
